Talk on Bhakti Yoga-The Path of Devotion
-Bringing the Heart into our Spiritual Life
-In our attempts to achieve more peace, fulfillment, joy, and freedom in our lives our intelligence, will, and self-effort can only take us so far. The efficacy of the path of devotion—Bhakti Yoga—is that it brings our heart, not just our head, into our spiritual life. This path helps us to form a living relationship with the Divine, no matter what religious or spiritual tradition we follow. Through this connection we open ourselves up to the great Power that resides at our core, beneath the waves of the mind. And through that Power our deeply ingrained mental patterns and conditioning are transformed.
In this workshop Swami Asokananda will be exploring how to:
Talk on Jnana Yoga
-Will My Real Self Please Stand Up
-Discovering Our Authentic Being Through Jnana Yoga
While most of us experience ourselves to be the body, mind, and individual ego, Jnana Yoga teaches that this perception is not accurate. We are the owner of the body, mind, and ego. The path of Jnana Yoga uses our clear, awakened intelligence to dis-cover the Owner—the True Self.
In this workshop, we will explore:
Talk On the Signs of a Sincere Spiritual Seeker
-16 Ways to Become More Attuned to Your Soul’s Aspiration
It’s not easy to be a sincere seeker. It’s hard to even determine the level of our sincerity. There are things we do to make progress, and there are also things we do to hold ourselves back. In this workshop, Swami Asokananda will share his observations of how we can become more earnest on the path, and ways that we can refrain from digging in our heels due to laziness or fear.
Talk On the Bhagavad Gita
-An introduction to one of the most important texts of Yoga
We do not see the world as it is. Each of us sees a different version of the world due to the different conditioning of the mind. All these separate versions of reality create conflict. Yoga provides us with the tools to see clearly and live in harmony. The Bhagavad Gita, one of the essential scriptures of Yoga, teaches us how to live in clarity and peace, so when it comes time to leave this world we feel prepared to move onto the next phase of our journey.
Mahatma Gandhi: “When doubts haunt me, when disappointments stare me in the face, and I see not one ray of hope on the horizon, I turn to the Bhagavad Gita and find a verse to comfort me; and I immediately begin to smile in the midst of overwhelming sorrow. Those who meditate on the Gita will derive fresh joy and new meaning from it every day.
Talk on How to live like a yogi
Simple lifestyle tips for an easeful body, a peaceful mind, and a useful life
You don’t need to do anything extraordinary to be a good yogi. It is not necessary to have an extreme practice—it can actually be counterproductive. What is needed is to gradually develop a lifestyle that nourishes your body, mind, and soul.
In this workshop Swami Asokananda will share what a day in the life of a yogi looks like:
· How does a yogi approach sleep
· What are some simple guidelines to keep our digestive fire bright
· How to find a balance between work and self-care
